Shared Struggles and the Gift for Each.
February 29-March 2, 2008
To find the gifts of
our struggles will take some time to listen to them and from there look
intently on the various gifts that they bring us. These gifts are far
reaching and bring peace, hope, and transformation in our daily life. Part
of our time will be spent in private prayer using Scripture and listening
to our deepest self.

Sister
Claire was Director of Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford , ME for
9 years. She gave programs and directed 8 day retreats. Presently she is
in Methuen, MA doing spiritual direction, retreat ministry and presents
programs to lay and religious. Sr. Claire wishes to bring freedom to
individuals and help them become truly “who they are and who God wants
them to be.”

| Throughout history, the Pieta has been a powerful icon that has captured
the imagination of people. It speaks eloquently of Jesus’ great sacrifice
for us and often moves us more deeply than words do. The focus of this
weekend will be to deepen this mystery, to learn to look at the Pieta with
new eyes. We will explore its meaning, and embrace the challenge, the
message, and the power it holds for each of us as we journey in the 21st
century. |

Mary and the Eucharist

Vatican II and the
Woman’s Movement have radically transformed our perception of Mary
forever. They have given our generation new reasons to call her blessed.
This weekend offers an update of
Mary’s meaning and God-given role
in our life. In keeping with the 49th International
Eucharistic Congress taking place in Quebec, June 15-22, 2008 we will ponder how Mary relates
to this great mystery of our faith and fans ours into flame!

Sister Marie May studied Spirituality and Theology at the Gregorian
University in Rome and has an MA from Fairfield University. She is
certified in Marian Studies from the International Marian Institute in
Dayton, OH. She authored "In Joyful Haste", the life of Blessed Marie
Rivier. She is a retreat and spiritual director, and director of the
Marie Rivier Lay Association for the PM Methuen Province.

A women's Scripture
Retreat. Come delve into the
Word of God and allow God's Word to live in your heart. This retreat will
focus on a particular Gospel passage and allow time for conferences, small
group sharing, quiet reflection time, and silent meals. All women 18 and
over are welcome. Treat yourself and take this opportunity to deepen your
relationship with the Lord. (Fall and Spring Retreats have different

Praying with Hearts and Hands
May

Join us as we share in the care of God’s people by
using the gifts of our hands to knit or crochet beautiful shawls. Our
prayers and blessings are woven into shawls as our hands work to fashion
them. Shawls are then given to people for comfort, healing, or in
celebration.
Our time will be spent praying, knitting,
blessing our shawls, sharing our stories, and enjoying the beauty of God’s
creation around us.
** Basic knitting or crocheting skills are a
prerequisite for this retreat. A list of required materials will be sent
upon registration.

Presenters: Beverly Libby, a retired teacher
from Westbrook, Maine works as a facilitator for the adult program “Echoes
of Faith”. She also gives workshops in Adult Formation in the RCIA
program. She has been knitting prayer shawls for the past 3 years. She is
a Lay Associate for the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.
Marylee Johnson
is an American fold art instructor. She has taught in her own
business and in adult education programs. For the last 5 years she has
embraced knitting ministries for God’s children around the world. Most
recently, she has presented prayer shawl workshops and retreats in faith
communities from Maine to Florida.

Linda is a Franciscan Sister. She has ministered in a number of different
parishes as Director of Religious and Pastoral Ministry. She was also
Director of the Nashua Deanery Christian Life Center from 1989-1994. She
is presently director of San Damiano House of Prayer in Lowell MA and is
on the spiritual direction team at St. Anthony’s Shrine in Boston MA.

Sacred Manuscript of Nature

“My book,” wrote
Anthony of the Desert, “is the nature of created things, and any time I
wish to read the words of God, the book is before me.” Hazrat Inayat Khan
speaks of “the sacred manuscript of Nature.” People of all traditions
find the sacred in the natural world. Come explore our relationship with
the sacred in nature—including how we embody our responsibility to the
natural world that gives us life. Or, as Joanna Macy says, “What marks on
this world are you leaving behind you?”

Karen Foley,
a Unitarian Universalist minister and spiritual director, lives next to
conservation land in Maine, where she volunteers in ecological education,
hikes, watches wildlife, gardens, and writes poetry and prose. Her
grounding in spiritual direction is from the Shalem Institute for
Spiritual Formation.
