The Journey of Praying Throughout our Lives

               – For Single Women ages 18-35

The Spirit within us moves us to pray...and so we approach our God with all of our longings, with all we are grateful for and all that besets us.  At times we wonder: Is there a fitting way to pray?  Even the first apostles had this concern. Seeing Jesus at prayer they asked: Lord, teach us to pray.  Jesus taught by example the value of personal prayer and the importance of praying in common.  The following one day retreats will focus on the various ways to pray throughout the seasons of our lives.

Formation

Pre-entrance

The journey to become a Sister of the Presentation of Mary is experienced in the context of prayer and community. Together the candidate and the Vocation Director discern the candidate's call to religious life as they journey in faith.

Postulancy

During this initial stage of formation, a woman continues to discern her call to religious life in the context of community life to better know the spirit, mission and apostolate of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.

Novitiate

This two year formation stage includes an intense year of prayer and study, exploring vowed life, the spirit and charism of the Congregation , and the person's giftedness to respond to God's call as a Sister of the Presentation of Mary. This is followed by an apostolic experience while living in one of our communities. The Novitiate stage concludes with first profession of the vows.

Perpetual Profession

Annually, for four to six years, the temporary professed sister renews her vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. During these years, the sister can be involved in a period of studies and/or apostolic activities in the Congregation. prior to final profession, the sister enters a year of intense prayer, renewal and preparation for final commitment. When she publicly pronounces her final vows to God, the community gathers to celebrate her gift to the Church and also promises to support her as a full member of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.
